Top 4 Comedy shows on OTT platforms to Binge this weekend

Many of us lead very bustling lives in today’s times. So, any form of entertainment that can take our mind off things is refreshing. Thanks to OTT platforms, there’s a whole lot of content that can make us laugh out loud today. With a view to make it easier, we rounded up some series which are sprinkled with humour.

 

Laughter is said to be the best medicine in the world. But, in today’s testing times, getting to a happy place is in itself a challenge for many. So with a view to help you take your mind off things, here are some shows that are sure to tickle your funny bones.


1. Schitt’s Creek

This Canadian satire boasts of a strong cast. Made by Eugene and Dan Levy, it consists of six seasons which depicts real life problems and social issues. Be it Alexis, David, Moira, or any other character, each of them have a beautifully executed arc. Along the way, the wackiness and hilarity of one-liners are very entertaining.

2. 2 Broke Girls


The plot of 2 Broke Girls follows the lives of friends Max Black and Caroline Channing.


Created by Michael Patrick King, Whitney Cummings, the lead characters, Kat Dennings Max and Beth Behrs Caroline move from being waitresses, business partners to getting broke. All the 138 episodes are a laughter ride. Characters like Sophie, Oleg, Dan, Earl deliver subtle social commentary and sarcastic digs that will keep you thoroughly hooked. Sadly, the commercial broadcast network CBS cancelled it after the sixth season. There was no closure on things and eventually a lot of it was left to imagination. But nonetheless, it's worth a watch.

3. Modern Family


Modern Family employs an ensemble cast and is presented in mockumentary style.


This is a sitcom made by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan and is considered to be one of the best comedy series ever made. The cuckoo-flawed-but-golden-hearted characters will keep you giggling while watching it. The show ran for 11 seasons and is hugely popular for its sassy burns, one-liners and comebacks. The show will hold a special place in your hearts even after you are done watching it.

4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine


Brooklyn 99 is a masterful comedy that makes investigation fun.


This is an absolute feel good show where Jake Peralta’s and all of Nine-Nine’s shenanigans are super entertaining. Its hard to imagine a show filled with police personnel to have humour. But, Brooklyn Nine-Nine makes investigations fun and is rightly termed American police procedural comedy. With a run of 153 episodes, the eighth and final season is yet to premiere in India. Bidding goodbye to a show like this is hard. Michael Schur and Dan Goor have delivered brilliant one-liners on the whole. So, watching this series will be “smort” choice.
