The 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil was facing several challenges as the tournament was finally happening after a halt of 12 years, in the aftermath of the Second World War. Amid such turmoil, many countries withdrew from the tournament. And when two Asian countries- the Philippines and Burma (now Myanmar) withdrew from the tournament, India was sent an Invite to the 1950 World Cup in Brazil.
