There is no dearth of good content on streaming platforms. But if you have a hectic work schedule or do not want to commit yourself to lengthy TV series, then, a limited series is ideal for you. These are snackible series which have only a few episodes. They are longer than movies and shorter than other season-after-season running TV shows. So get ready to finish them off in one go.
The Night Manager
Tom Hiddleston along with Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander and Elizabeth Debicki are sure to keep you hooked in The Night Manager. It is based on a novel by John le Carré of the same name. Adapted by David Farr, the series is filled with mystery and drama. This story is about a night manager in a luxe hotel who happens to be a former British soldier and is later recruited to bring down an arms dealer. The series has already bagged several awards across categories.

Alias Grace
Alias Grace is an adaptation based on Margaret Atwood’s novel which bears the same name. The six-hour long series is a true-crime drama that traces the story of an Irish-Canadian immigrant, Grace Marks. Written and produced by Sarah Polley, this gripping series is directed by Mary Harron. The story is told in flashbacks by Grace to psychiatrist Dr Simon Jordan.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2017 Sarah had said, “My main objective was to track a woman’s journey through a man’s world where she’s endlessly harassed, abused and expected to remain silent”. While the story is of the 1800s, it is still relevant especially in today’s world where inequality, sexism and misogyny is still rife.

The Queen’s Gambit
This series has left an indelible mark in the minds of viewers and has taken the game of chess to greater heights. Based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Walter Tevis, the mini-series depicts the life of Elizabeth Harmon as a chess prodigy in the ‘50s and ‘60s while she struggles with drug addiction and alcoholism. The series is directed and written by Scott Frank.
Anya Taylor-Joy’s performance, the riveting storyline and brilliant cinematography will keep you hooked throughout. The series has bagged many accolades and has received critical acclaim worldwide.

Chernobyl
Released in 2019, this mini-series will leave you gaping. The disaster which took place on April 26, 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union is an event that went down in history as one of the most horrific man-made nuclear tragedies. The series, however, is based on the clean-up efforts. Written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck, it stars Jared Harris, Stellan Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson and Paul Ritter. While the show is extensively researched and adapted, the makers have taken some creative liberties.
